The Tarot AR Experience

The AR experience has been growing tremendously in the last decade. It is used for home decor, fashion, gaming, and so much more. I wanted to create my own AR experience. How could I create an AR experience using tarot cards as my foundation?

It started with a show

Originally this project was created as part of an assignment to assemble a show for the college to see. The show was called “cARnival”. I worked with another person to create a tarot card experience. My partner created the cards and I organized our part of the show as well as some bug fixes. We both created 3D work that would be used for the AR experience. Overall it was a success, but I didn’t want to stop there. I decided to make the tarot cards more my own.

Creating My Own Experience

I wanted to make this project more personable to myself. I got my own reading and then I decided to create my own tarot card designs based on that reading. I wanted the art to reflect my own life.

The Cards

I decided that the cards would be illustrations of things I care deeply about. Those things just happened to all be living. These cards would eventually act as markers for the AR experience to come to life.
